Note from Eric:

"Dear friends --

Manhattan Masters wrapped up one week ago, and I thank you for supporting a thrilling month of music for me. All four shows were gratifying in different ways: putting a soulful spin on the theater music of Charles Strouse; enjoying a heady and hilarious evening of the love lyrics of Yip Harburg; reveling in the sheer melodic beauty of Jule Styne's tunes; and saluting colleagues in saloon singing and songwriting.

I had essential help from musicians such as 2007 NEA Jazz Master Frank Wess on reeds, Sean Smith & Peter Washington on bass, and Vito Lesczak on drums. Charles Strouse sat in sensationally on opening night, and broke our hearts with "Once Upon A Time". John Wallowitch sang his wonderful songs as only he can on the closing weekend, with a powerful "Mary's Bar". At all four shows, Barbara Fasano (whose new CD WRITTEN IN THE STARS has just been selected "Outstanding Recording" by the Back Stage critics) was a special muse and presence. No one who attended the final show will forget the way she opened the evening with "One For My Baby" ... or her knockout leather outfit. Barbara returns to The Metropolitan Room with a new set on Sunday, March 18.

The Metropolitan Room, led by Lennie Watts, was a terrific place at which to launch these new projects, and it was exciting that some of the writers and their families were in attendance: lyricist Roger Schore, composer/lyricist Francesca Blumenthal, Ernie Harburg, and Cam Walter and Mark Walter among them.

In all, I can't wait to bring these shows back, nor could I have enjoyed such a successful season without the folks above ... and YOU.

Gratefully,

Eric

P.S. Special thanks to my fellow compulsives who caught all four!
